SAMSARA BLUES EXPERIMENT - Revelation and Mistery World In Sound Records (2011)
After their super debut album, Thomas Vedder, Hans Bob, Richard Beherens and Christian Peters should have thought – at least for a while – whether to record another perfect psychedelic stoner rock album or go beyond it. Revelation and Mistery is the result of that choice. Berliner quartet’s second official album sounds much more “architected” and “composed” than its predecessor and add a really effective kraut-proggy attitude to the smoky atmospheres engendered by the band.
25 Gen Elder – Dead Roots Stirring (2011)
ELDER - Dead Roots Stirring Meteorcity 2011 Roots are dead, but with such a record they could come back to life at any time! Dead Roots Stirring sounds indeed a magic potion that can give oxygen to a genre – stoner rock – which is often thought as monotonous and derivative. In few years Elder has reached a good popularity and represent one of the best heavy psych act coming from the US and this is proved somehow by their homonymous first record [Elder 2009].
Anyhow, Dead Roots Stirring sounds very different to my hears, there’s something a little bit more “european” in the riffing, in vocals parts, something that reminds Motorpsycho’s “little lucid moments”, especially in tracks like the super-concluding anthem “Knot”, a guitar touch that has let himself get inspired but Stephan Koglek’s Colour Haze master - you can hear it in the opener “Gemini”

Vincebus Eruptum è una rivista d'altri tempi. Paleolitica. Di quelle che sono nate in ciclostile. Una Zine di quelle che quelle che erano soliti leggere i ragazzi negli anni 90's, quando i Nerd erano considerati degli "sfigati" per davvero.
Nata ed allevata come una figlia da Davide Pansolin, Vincebus Eruptum nel corso degli anni è diventata una rivista di culto per i cultori della scena underground Heavy Psych ed annovera sulle sue pagine interviste e contributi divenuti ben presto un punto di arrivo per tutte quelle band adorano il Big Muff almeno tanto quanto i 70's. Non a caso "Vincebus Eruptum" è il titolo del primo e straordinario disco di quei tre signori che si facevano chiamare Blue Cheer.

Questi MonstrO sembrano la band di Billy Corgan in un mondo in cui non esiste la calvizie! Il suono è quello degli Smashing più potenti ed ispirati, tanto che l'etichetta stoner è la prima che di questi tempi verrebbe da attaccare a questo quartetto americano, di Atlanta. Ma ascoltando con un po' più di attenzione - la cosa non necessita di alcuna fatica, anzi - ci si rende conto che c'è dell'altro. C'è un'attitudine che deve molte influenze anche ad altre band dei 90's che furono - vedi le parti vocali e gli arrangiamenti delle due chitarre a là Soundgarden - e del primo decennio del nuovo millennio - vedi i le ritmiche compresse ed anfetaminiche contenute nei primi tre dischi dei QUOTSA.
